Semiconductors, which has been called to be the miracle business of the 20th century, are about to mark half a century of history.There is no other industry in the past which has had such great impact on human civilized life as semiconductors, and has revolutionized civilization itself.Semiconductors are commonly called the rice of industry in Japan, because they have play roll as indispensable devices equipped in almost all industrial field, which industries support information society. And the development is still in progress.

The history of semiconductors in Japan is now more than 40 years. Japan has built up the semiconductor industry into a leading high-tech industry, comparable to that of the United States, the country of its invention. During this time, many pioneers and people involved in the semiconductor industries have made painstaking efforts from the time of its creation to the present day.

The purpose of the establishment of the Society of Semiconductor Industry Seniors is to encourage those who have been involved in semiconductor industry for many years and to cultivate a great deal of experience and wisdom in order to enable actively contribute to the permanent development for not only the Japanese industries but also global ones.

Valuable supports from Japanese semiconductor device, manufacturing, equipment material industries, and academics would be greatly appreciated.
